Abraham Knocks Out Taylor and Froch wins by split decision over Dirrell

The only major trouble that Arthur Abraham had in his fight with Jermain Taylor was keeping his trunks on. His boxing trunks seemed to lose their elastic and had to have a tape job by his cut man to finish the fight. They also had a gaping hole in the front by the time the fight was complete. But his opponent, Taylor, had more serious problems because he was on the canvas and unconscious by the end of the fight. Abraham used a methodical, patient attack to weaken Jermain Taylor and then knock him out with a powerful straight right hand that penetrated through Taylor's defense. Abraham was conservative with his punches throughout the fight; but when he landed, he landed with authority and power that did damage, which is why many are picking Abraham to win the Super Six Tournament. In the other fight, Carl Froch won a split decision over Andre Dirrell. Dirrell was the faster fighter, both with his hands and his feet, but his clenching and running, along with his constant complaining to the referee, apparently did not set well with the judges. Carl Froch turned the fight into a brawl, pushing Dirrell around and hitting whatever was accessible, including the back of Dirrell's head. Froch was warned about hitting in the back of the head, but it was Dirrell who had a point deducted for pushing Froch. The judges seemed to award Froch for being the aggressor in the fight, and they did not seem enthused by Dirrell's clenching and running. It seems apparent that the winner of this tournament will not be the fighter who tries to avoid contact, but rather the warrior that stands and fights in the center of the ring and who is the last one standing.
