Vitali Klitschko dominates Arreola

There was much excitement about the prospect of Chris Arreola becoming the next heavyweight champion of the world. There was a lot of hope as well, especially among his large Hispanic following, but the odds makers, who had the odds stacked 5:1 against him, knew what most of us did not want to accept: Arreola had no chance against Vitali Klitschko. It was a boring fight in many aspects because of the clinical nature of how Klitschko picked Arreola apart. It was not boring due to lack of effort by Arreola, who constantly pressured Klitschko in an effort to get inside and land punches, but Klitschko's skills and physical advantages spoiled his efforts. Arreola trained hard for the fight. Pundits have often been critical of Arreola since he has shown up to many of his recent fights looking pudgy. Arreola knew that he would not have a chance against Klitschko unless he showed up in top shape. He hired a personal trainer in addition to his boxing trainer, and he came into the fight weighing just over 250 lbs, and he looked trim. He also put up a strong effort, but it was simply not enough against an excellent boxer who had a huge physical advantage in terms of height and reach. Arreola had to keep his hands up high as he tried to close the distance, while Klitschko often kept his hands at his side, allowing KLitschko unimpeded vision to effectively utilize his jab and powerful right hand. Klitschko also used lateral movement to effectively neutralize Arreola's pressure. When Arreola was able to close the distance, Klitschko would clutch, and the referee would break them, and Arreola would proceed on his long, painful journey back through the mine field in an attempt to strike at his opponent. After ten rounds and with no reasonable chance that there was going to be a turn in the fight, Arreola's corner threw in the towel to avoid their fighter from taking any more punishment. Arreola was upset, because he wanted to continue, but Ramirez did the right thing, realizing that the Klitschko was not tiring and that continuing would just cause more harm to his fighter, even though Arreola appeared in no harm of getting knocked out. Arreola is young, so he still has a chance to be champion, because Klitschko has got to retire at some point.
